Lac de Serre Ponçon
The Sea in the Mountains!
With an area of 3,000 hectares, Lac de Serre-Ponçon is the second largest artificial lake in Europe. The impressive dam built on the Durance, with a height of 123 metres and a length of 650 metres, is the largest dam in Europe! A wonderful holiday destination with plenty of options to enjoy an active holiday.
Relax by the water
Although many people think of adventure on a mountain holiday, the Lac de Serre-Ponçon region is also perfect for relaxation. With 300 days of sunshine it is a great location to relax on a beach bed by the lake with a nice book. A day of wellness is also an option. Moreover, it is often even better to relax after an action-packed day.

Towns and villages
There are three villages on the banks of the Lac de Serre-Ponçon: Embrun, Chorges and Savines-le-Lac. Embrun is the largest and most atmospheric of the three. In the old streets you will find nice shops and quaint little terraces. The weekly markets in the area are also worth a visit. Are you looking for a larger place to shop, then make a trip to Gap. This is approximately half an hour away.
